My favourite amp I’ve owned, and I’ve been through a lot, but as a home player with 2 young children, my ability to crank it is somewhat low. My options are either get an attenuator with headphones or sell/swap.

with that in mind, I’m tentatively putting it out for trades for either a Gibson ES335 or similar, or a nice Fender.

fully loaded with VAC, Reverb and Trem, trade value around £2000

It’s a good question and you are forgiven - I use it but my kids are such light sleepers that even with it, they would wake. I have thought about an Ox or Captor X and running through headphones.

Obviously, you do you and sometimes a change is a very healthy thing.

Can’t help feeling though this has the whiff of a trade that will be laced with regret??

Totally get where the OP is coming from. When mine were little, the guitar room was next to their bedrooms and my criteria for a “good” amp was how quiet it can get. Even a fully attenuated J isn’t quiet.
From experience though, you either need a master volume amp that’s good a good master (not many) or use a pedal for your drive tones to get the volume low. Thorpy’s own j could be a better solution than ditching the amp
If you decide to sell, good luck. Great amps

I have a 4 year old son and I have a similar experience. I have Carr Super Bee and it is still loud even with attenuator when he is sleeping. I mean I can play whisper quite but it loses it's magic. I use a fender micro headphone amp most of the time in the evening.

as a father to three kids, and two of them being young... I sympathise. FWIW the Two Notes Captor X is incredible and a better option than any amps Master volume. Ive run a 100W head through mine then used headphones to enjoy it...

I am leaning back towards that, I had one previously and found it easy to use, can’t really remember why I sold it!

When the kids are older and you no longer have to worry about the volume as much you won’t need to buy the amp back if you get the captor x

If this isn’t a glowing assessment of how good these amps are, I don’t know what is. Withdrawn! Anyone selling a Captor X?
