And ideally isn’t crazy expensive. I’m aware of the Bonamassa Fuzz Face but any others?

    Walrus Eons is excellent.
    catastroFX deface is a bargain.

Most "modern" sorts should be okay. One's with a bias control can work too.

A silicon Fuzz Face might be worth trying.

I've got a Dunlop Screamadelica Fuzz Face which is basically a Dunlop JHF-1 in a a fancy paint job. It works pretty well with my 335, however I prefer my self-built silicon Fuzz Face which has a little less bass and more bite. A lot depends on the transistors.

Thanks for the tips all. Going to give the Catastrofx Deface a whirl as there was one on Reverb (there isn’t any more…) :)

The Thorpy Tacit Blue and Vemuram Shanks II are the only fuzzes I have ever properly loved - they both great with everything

    This is probably the way.

I would say DOD Carcosa as is does everything the Boss does + loads more gain on tap & more Velcro to dial in, aka a bit more fun. But it can be bass heavy on humbuckers.

Analogman Sun Face Bart sounds awesome with PAFs. Other germanium ff type pedals don’t play as nicely, although might be worth going down that route if you want massive & smooth fuzz. AM is expensive, worth it if it’s your no.1 fuzz. I sold mine in the constant dream of downsizing & do miss it.

*edit* missed the post where you went for the Deface @lewy - good choice!

I've got a JHS Bender sitting not doing much that I could let go for £120 posted if interested.

EQD Hizumitas, Thorpy Hanami & Moth Electric Isabella (Russian version) all work well with humbuckers.

Wata uses humbuckers in her LP but I suppose it depends on what fuzz sound you want aswell.

Change the tone circuit on your guitar to some version of the G&L passive treble and bass and you can make any low impedance input fuzz circuit work with whatever pickups you have in your guitar.

Otherwise a fuzz with a pickup emulator circuit before it gives more uniform results between guitars with different pickups.

I don't really understand the question... any fuzz pedal I've ever tried works fine with any type of pickup. They sound different, but isn't that the point?

I’ve made a vox tonebender which is like a mk 1.5, which in turn is similar to a fuzz face. I prefer it with humbuckers over an actual fuzz face, though one FF to another can react quite differently. It cleans up properly as well!

Well what I mean by it is that my experience of humbuckers with fuzzes (only fuzz face circuits in my experience) is that they've just been too flabby and you can't get any bite., things don;t clean up in the same way etc. I'm clearly not the only one, hence people's responses here. All my current guitars have humbuckers in the bridge so I guess another way of asking the question is are there fuzzes that enable you to use humbuckers but sound a bit more like the response you'd get from a single coil.

If the Deface doesn’t work out, try a  Dunlop JHF1 Hendrix FF - it sounds great with humbuckers.

Generally, fuzz + single coils is the formula. Humbuckers tend to be too hot, putting out too much signal and information to play well with ye olde fuzz designs. Even with singles, the weedier the better. It's why Hendrix and the
    fuzzface worked so well.

That's just in general though. Page, Ronson and even Fripp showed that the tonbender family and HBs are a match made in heaven.

Wasn’t the Bonamassa fuzz designed with the need to be used with Humbuckers in mind?

Also, my default position with a lot of low input impedance fuzzes, whether using humbuckers or single coils, is to roll the volume on the guitar back. How much depends on the guitar. I only ever roll up to full for soloing or deliberately fuzzy chording.

The great thing about the circuit design is that when rolled back you get a sort of natural noise gating effect and clean up. If you are plugged into an overdriven amp you can almost use it like an underdrive.
