An absolute hero and inspiration in my opinion for showing that you can achieve remarkable things after life changing injury. Sad news!

Met him very briefly at an autograph session after an F1 race. Whereas the other drivers were doing the absolute minimum, Alex Zinardi made sure that everyone who wanted an autograph got one plus he took the time to chat to people individually. All round good bloke and an absolute hero. RIP
Don’t even look at it! Don’t touch it! Don’t point even...ok, you’ve seen enough of that one.

I vividly remember his (Zanardi) Spa crash in 1993 and being amazed he survived that, let alone the one when he lost his legs.

    A remarkable man.

Very sad news. He certainly had more than his fair share of terrible luck. That Lausitzring crash was horrific, but the way he came back from that and the things he went on to achieve were absolutely remarkable.

    Nice obituary here:

The superlatives that we trot out all too often for people that don’t necessarily live up to them, fall far short for this man. An almost unbelievable human.

  • An inspirational character, RIP.

Nice to see a new generation of Italian driver taking the chequered flag at the Miami GP today - a fitting tribute I'm sure Zanardi would have approved of.
