Please include me (if there's any left).
There won't be any left if this bloke gets it first (skip to 4:45 in the clip).

I have used this on quite a few boards by now. You don’t need a lot of it - in my experience, the amount you put on, the time you leave it on for, and the number of repeat applications makes little difference. How much it darkens depends on the properties of the specific piece of wood more than anything I think. You can give yourself a better chance of success by cleaning the board with naptha or isopropyl alcohol to get rid of any residual lemon oil (or whatever you’ve used previously). And rub it in thoroughly.

This is recycling/sharing at its best and an excellent reason for loving this forum.

Sadly I won't be joining in as I have a tub of Briwax antique oak that I'm partial to a bit of rubbing on woods of varying hues.

Toothbrush and a hairdryer as per previous thread and that tin will last years, no need daub it on.

Sorry for the long wait, but here are the results:

Firstly is the Jazzmaster - an Allparts neck with Indian rosewood fretboard.

Not a huge deal of difference in darkness, but it does look nicer, richer and healthier. I like it.

Second is an Epiphone Masterbilt AJ45. These are supposed to have rosewood fretboard, but it certainly looks like pau ferro to me.

As an experiment with this one I applied the wax to all but one fret to see if I could spot the difference once it was cleaned off and polished.

    I certainly couldn't. Can you?

The tin will shortly be on its way to @Fishboy7

Hi Tim. Actually if you haven’t sent it out already, could you maybe skip to the next person in the queue as I’ve smashed my leg up and might struggle to get it sent out to the next person very promptly.

As the inventor of the toothbrush and hairdryer method I concur! Slathering it on is a total waste.

Back from beautiful south Devon after a few days camping and I find a packet with wax already delivered to Gee Hacienda - many thanks for posting @Decorativeed

I've applied it last night to my LP Classic, left it overnight and it's getting the second part of treatment today. I'll post pics shortly.

Thank you @nero1701 for giving us a chance to try it :)

  • I wouldn't mind a go if there's any left! My les paul fretboard is a wee bit pale.

    What's the hairdryer method?

After you’ve applied it you heat it gently with a hairdryer. The idea is that a liquid is more easily absorbed into the grain than a waxy solid.

Hi guys - can I please join the list ? My MiM Mustangs could certainly benefit.

Haven’t got a hair dryer - but am full of hot air. Hopefully that will do :)

    @mgaw are you next? If not then it's going to @Gomers ;

For those wondering if the tin will last long I used a toothbrush on my guitar and gotta say it's probably the most economical method of applying the thing. I used a really small amount of it and the results are great, see my Instagram post above.
