    Looks really great.

I always fear that if I spent decent money on putting together a partscaster I'd really enjoy the process but would end up with a guitar that wasn't quite the sum of it's rather expensive parts.
I'd still like to try it sometime.
It's hugely enjoyable and I learn something every time I build one.

A coherent spec is obviously important but the most important thing is the attention put in by the person putting it together.

A few things to bear in mind -

    1) if you’re unsure about anything, Always consult with a proper luthier (not tech) about your build. Getting a little bit of help along the way from a professional is not a bad thing at all but be careful and selective about who you trust with the project.

    2) Not all parts are made to the same standard. Most of the battle comes down to finding a neck which suits your needs. If the neck is right, then your guitar is probably going to be right. That’s why I give all of my neck work (nuts and fret levelling) to someone who has been working on Guitars for longer than I’ve been alive. Once the frets are levelled and a proper bone nut has been installed, then you have half the battle won already.

    3) Bad soldering and wiring can lead to a very noisy guitar. I would refer to my first point here and always be sure to have someone who is skilled with a soldering iron and guitar wiring to assist or even do it for you.

In my opinion, a lot of the negative feedback from assembling your own guitar comes from a lack of knowledge in the process. It’s not a particularly easy thing to do, and you will never get it first time. You read a lot of people online saying that a guitar is just two bits of wood slapped together with some screws.. I can assure you that is not the case. If you spend £1500 or so assembling a guitar with good components then you will easily be able to rival the quality of the guitar that would retail for four or five times that amount of money. But you have to stick to the process and enjoy the journey. For goodness sake, do not pour all of your hard earned money into one of these projects with ridiculously high expectation levels if you’ve never done it before.

I would definitely say (to give yourself a fighting chance of high-quality build) allow £1500 to buy everything you need. You can probably put together parts caster from cheaper components and therefore only spend say maybe £600. But at that point, I suspect you’ll need someone’s help when the niggles start to show up.

@stickyfiddle thank you once again for your support and friendship, That build has come out looking awesome, and to be honest I don’t think you’re going to go wrong no matter what configuration you go for (However, anything other than an esquire layout with a black three ply guard is just wrong  )

@GoldenEraGuitars based on your recent Facebook post is it Ernie you use for the fret work?

I’ll let the man confirm but I believe so.

And he’s really good. I’m super picky about nuts and even those I barely touch!

I didn’t get proper pics of that end of this guitar yet. Will try and do that at the weekend :)

I literally just asked! I think these were chatGPT but a year ago, so the models have all changed anyway.

Something like “generate an image of a 1962 Telecaster leaning on a Deluxe Reverb, on a dark stage, light by spotlight. Guitar is candy apple red with double body binding. It has a maple neck with rosewood fretboard, black pickguard, standard pickups and Bigsby B5 tailpiece.”

I put that in just now and got this. The models have got a lot better!!

If you upload a picture you can ask specific changes.

    “Make this Sherwood Green”….

I did this for a friend a couple of years ago. I can definitely confirm that Sherwood green and black work very nicely together.
