FS: Gibson CS ML 1958 Les Paul (Light Aged)

This is a head-turning guitar no doubt it and it’s got the playability to match.  Light weight, interesting pedigree, it’s an absolute beauty and a peach of a guitar.  It’s exactly what a Les Paul should be in my book and tbh is the only Les Paul I’ve ever got on with.  It ought to make for the “lifer Les Paul” but I still don’t play it as much as it deserves and I’m always veering towards the Strats and Teles.

It was one of the earliest Murphy Lab guitars (2020) and used as a show guitar in the equivalent of the Gibson Garage in Holland and has a light demo stamp on the back of the headstock, accordingly.  It was hand picked as a show guitar and you can sense that the extra mile was taken as regards the quality.  It weighs 8.7lbs on my bathroom scales and just to get it out of the way, there is absolutely no issue with the finish or anything else.  In fact, the finish is a gorgeous Light Relic edging into the Heavy territory and I think it was done like this to be used to demo what the ML could do.  It comes with a ML certificate and the original plush, pink lined hard case.

The neck isn’t the regular 1958 spec (again I think this was maybe because it was one of the first ML’s and used as the example) and is a slimmer version sitting between a ‘58 and ‘59 profile.  It’s perfect.  Custombucker pickups.

This is a sale but the only trade I might consider would be for a sunburst Strat.

I would much prefer a pick up or a meet up and I’m happy to drive pretty much anywhere.  We can discuss postage if that’s preferred/required - I think Lenspeed is well regarded but I’ve never used them.  As I say, I‘d prefer not to courier this guitar, if possible.

I’m not usually a Gibson or Les Paul fan but the last Murphy you sold, that went to Paul, was hands down the nicest guitar I’ve ever played. This man knows how to choose a LP people! If you’re in the market, I’d make the time to try this one for sure.

Thanks Dazza, funnily enough I was looking at old pics of that Goldtop today.  They're both really stellar instruments and this one will make someone very happy, I'm sure.

Really nice dark back on this guitar.  The guitar feels like a properly old Les Paul.
