Since seeing Cardinal Black live and learning they wrote this song for a friend who was dieing of cancer I struggle to hold back my tears.

"So take my hand and dive with me, and we'll wake up where the water's cold
    Jump in
    Jump in"

I really is a beautiful song. Push/Pull has a similar effect on me after Chris started writing it after his father passed (I'm not at that stage yet, immensely fortunately, but who knows what's around the corner and I've certainly become more 'aware' of things, lately).

They are fantastic live, too (I saw them in Cardiff Students Union last year*). I really implore people to see them if they get the chance, the emotion comes through even though they've done it all a thousand times at this point.

*and somehow featured on their Instagram reel from that evening lol
Ssssshhh don't go telling everyone!

You're welcome. I stumbled across him several years ago with a cover of Vincent Black Lightning.

I put on the album Mysterium by Hammock for background while I worked. I had forgotten just how moving this album is - the song Mysterium in particular. Not only did it bring a tear to my eye - it made every sense tingle!

Since I lost my parents 9 years ago, pretty much any music with a powerfully sad or epic theme never fails to turn my taps on.  Sometimes, even a beautifully executed chord structure or delivery is enough (Grandaddy's 'Way We Won't' is a great example).

    Notable inclusions:

'Thinking of a Place' - War on Drugs : This was the one where the lyrics seemed to connect directly with the situation

'Holes' - Mercury Rev : Majestic 4 chord melancholy, lyrics again that I connect a certain finality with

Two from the amazing Public Service Broadcasting; 'The Other Side' which gets me due to the sheer euphoria of the ending.  Also by PSB, 'Howland' which documents the disappearance of aviator Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan as they attempted to circumnavigate the globe, the soft bleakness of the known outcome for the listener makes it hugely bittersweet.

Music with soaring string arrangements get me going. This clip of an live performance of one of my favourite tracks really got me, especially when it all kicks in towards the end of the clip. Hairs on back of neck etc. I hope the rest of the concert gets released. I think it's amazing

'September' by Ryan Adams from Jacksonville City Nights:

"They carved your name into a stone and then they put it in the ground,
I run my fingers through the grooves
    When no one's around."

'Dear John' from the same album too.
