My stolen guitar has been found.
I would like to say thank you to everybody on here that has shown massive support, from kind messages to sharing and getting the message of the stolen guitar out there to the wider community over the last 2.1/2 weeks it means so much and in a time where you feel upset and down by the fact that you’ve had a guitar stolen, I’ve taken comfort in the humanity I have seen.
With respect to the open case I won’t be sharing any further information at this time.

Unfortunately, I had a guitar stolen tonight. This has been logged with the police.

Can I please ask that you all share the guitar details and serial number? Let’s make this hot to everybody knows it’s out there if anybody has any genuine information please send me a private message. Kind regards many thanks Dave.

Very sorry to hear that and hope you recover it.

    When was it stolen?
    where?
    how?
    etc.

Serial number is an important detail of course. But any photos or details of any distinguishing features?

Irish guy tried paying for it with a dodgy app and when I challenged him saying your not taking the guitar until then money is in my account he walk off to his car with the guitar saying I’ve paid you and it will show in ur account soon.
    Police are involved…………….
there wasn’t much else I could have done other than try to wrestle the guitar off him and risk been attacked.

basically sounds like a mugging, but with the thin veneer of a "deal gone bad" to run some interference and the threat of violence as an undercurrent.  I hope you get your guitar back and i hope you aren't too shaken

I saw Ken Dixon’s post sharing this on Facebook. Awful thing to have happened. Wishing you all the best and hopefully the guitar community will help get it recovered.

This is the same people doing the same scam that has claimed a couple of other victims on here: pair of Irish guys wanting to pay with a fake AIB app, you'll get a "confirmation email" from a dodgy fake email account but no money has actually moved, and they'll be out the door with your guitar.

Also, as this is essentially theft/fraud by misrepresentation, your home insurance doesn't cover it.
If guitar theft is anything like high value bike theft then sadly the police are likely to prove ineffective/uninterested.

It would be a noble use of a Chibson to post an advert on Facebook (which is where I assume they're looking for victims) for an "R9" with an Airtag or other tracker in the control cavity.
The pair doing this after obviously quite prolific at the moment, I'd certainly be taking steps to protect myself if I were selling at the moment

It's a given it'll be on cloned plates.

You don't make a career out of stealing £4k guitars and then pay your car tax, plus it creates an additional layer of anonymity

This is happening very regularly now, so it's clear they're career criminals and are fairly organised, it's not a random chancer hoping to steal a nice guitar for themselves. It's also likely that they've a way to move the stolen guitars on, even possible they're bringing them over to Ireland to avoid them being spotted for sale

Really sorry to hear this Dave. I really hope you can get it back.

Can you tell us where you placed the ad that they replied to?

I like @strtdv's idea of using a Chibson as bait but still wonder whether the police could be bothered to follow it up.

Edit: Maybe post a photo of your R9 in this thread (not just a link) and also that photo of the theiving toad?

Wow, so sorry mate, that's awful to hear. I hope you get some luck with getting it back or some financial compensation from somewhere. I really despise people sometimes, other animals don't do each other over like humans do.

Karma will get them eventually, I'm sure. Take care in the meantime, fingers crossed for you.
