This is the same people doing the same scam that has claimed a couple of other victims on here: pair of Irish guys wanting to pay with a fake AIB app, you'll get a "confirmation email" from a dodgy fake email account but no money has actually moved, and they'll be out the door with your guitar.

    Any photos of the shits?

Also, as this is essentially theft/fraud by misrepresentation, your home insurance doesn't cover it.
If guitar theft is anything like high value bike theft then sadly the police are likely to prove ineffective/uninterested.

It would be a noble use of a Chibson to post an advert on Facebook (which is where I assume they're looking for victims) for an "R9" with an Airtag or other tracker in the control cavity.
The pair doing this after obviously quite prolific at the moment, I'd certainly be taking steps to protect myself if I were selling at the moment
As soon as I challenged him and said the guitar is not going anywhere until the money is in my bank he got funny n aggressive n was off, there basically wasn’t anything I could have done other than try to wrestle the guitar off him and risk being attacked or worse.

Sorry to hear about this Dave

These dudes are obviously here to stay for a while until they are caught

Bottom line is to be aware of any potential visitors with an Irish accent - I know that sounds racists and it is not meant to be  - But until they turn up to visit you and we’ve seen their pics , it is all we have to go one

I think don’t liaise via text - Speak to them- Try and get a feel of them and their interests- Maybe they are players as well or just thieves- But speaking to them about your contact address and how they plan to pay might help you before they even turn up - Be aware and be careful - Maybe have a friend with you if they visit you

Sorry to dig into a sore point @musicman100 , could I just ask where you had it advertised please? May help others to know where these cretins are getting their leads from?

    Thanks

Thank you all for your support n kind words,

there’s a high chance it’s gonna on up in the north west probably in a cash converters or similar.

Could I please ask if possible to keep an eye out and if you see it please contact or the police

When my guitars were stolen in 2017, they almost all ended up in the Cash Converters in Blackpool. Not sure why that one in particular, but the staff seemed a bit too blasé about it.

Hope you're able to get it back, it's a horrible situation.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think thieves who appear to be making a business from specifically targeting high-value guitars will be selling them in Cash Converters.

Still - do a bulk email to Cash Converters, the other pawn shop places, an the head offices of the big guitar shops and give them the serial number.

Then they have actual knowledge of the stolen item details should they be offered to them to sell.

Set up ebay search alerts too.

You'd be surprised - stuff only goes on the website once it's sat in store for a few months, so it's actually pretty low profile, and they've got some high-end stuff on their website right now.

If you've got photos then send them as well. And post them here too.

You need to make it too hot to move on.

I think similar - You need an outlet to move a quantity of guitars - And in turn, where is the buyer then moving them - Hard to trace one stolen guitar, via any google web site listing, but list a few and a picture starts to unravel

The other thing and I tried to make a point about this above - They must be making contact with you before visiting - So gather info - Phone number (if might well be a burner) but make out you need to get back to them to confirm the meeting up time, or to confirm they are on their way - Ask about payment info in advance - Have a guitar chat with them - What else do they play - Do they have any other questions - Try and suss them a bit before they turn up

Are they targeting shops as well or just private listings

Did you get a mobile number in advance of them coming to see you - Chances are it is turned off most of the time and a burner - But chances are they will use it again when they make their next move

This shot has the wrong knobs on it but does show a bit of the faded red that seems quite distinctive
