another milk paint danish oil refinish.

What's Hot
So I built this Nono Voltur homage / rip off last year and I finished it with montana gold... it never really seems to cure quite right and I made a error sanding the top so it wasn't 100% level. Alway bugged me so the other day I attacked it with the heat gun :)

I really like the milk paint and danish oil look, I know it's not eveyone's bag but hey ho.

And here's round II. Simple faded black. I kept the headstock pink to go with the kind of pawn shop partscaster vibe I was after.

might have to move on from black now :)

If you're looking for a quick finish I would give it a go, obviously you're not going to get a nice thick gloss finish but it's a painless process if you like a relic, worn look.

That does look really great. Is the milk paint just brushed on? Any flattening involved?

I’ve got a Tele body I’m going to use for my first partscaster and I like the look of this. Any tips you can share?!

Very nice! I did my lockdown Strat in milk paint and danish oil six years ago, and the finish has worn really well.

    @davros & @chrisj1602 ;

I just mix it up usually 1:1 mix powder and warm water, a bit more water if I want it more of a wash.

Then brush it on. usually two coats.

Then I use a light sandpaper to rub it down and get the worn look.

Then I give it a couple of light coats of danish oil.

Then I buff it with a machine but you could do it with a cloth.

It's quite a raw finish but I like that, I've never done a more soild finish like @timhulio (which look lovely by the way)

I'm not sure how it would last being gigged hard but mine only get home use and have held up well over the last year or so.

It's also a much more pleasant experience than painting.

    I get it from here:

I used some milk paint on a mini Vox head I made and found it very easy and much more pleasant than spraying

I love the look of these. I've never used a milk paint - hadn't even heard of it until now.

Does it have to be Danish Oil on top or will Tru-Oil work? Only asking as I have some Tru Oil in stock at the moment! :D

@fretmeister I've never used tru oil. But Google tells me it works. The milk paint is porous so it should absorb the oil ok. Sorry not much help.

Not to worry - I've got some tester wood bits that I can play with.

Ive done tru oil and wax on some... it was harder wearing than the oil and wax alone.   Obviously it does darken it though
