    Fender Hot Rod Deluxe - can be picked up for £300 and ticks every box with ease.

    It's interesting, has been years since I've tried, and other than the extra size weight (from memory), when I tried them, i liked the clean but found the drive channel scratchy and horrible.....and silly though it might sound, I'd want every channel to be usable.....  Are there certain models that are better, or a way to dial them in so the drive is at all pleasant?

    A bit of confirmation bias for you

    ...maybe a blackface or silverface Bassman, although I appreciate neither have reverb.  But they're super toneful...
    I’m still regularly blown away by how accommodating my Bassman 50 is to pedals. There’s loads of tone reasons to own one, the fact it just loves pedals is a huge unexpected benefit.

    i’d love to try a deluxe reverb. Princeton made some pedals absolutely delicious, although I ran it hot & often ran into fart-land when stacking things that had a little boost.

    The ML Deville I have for sale solves these issues by not having a drive channel at all, sacrificing it for a second master volume instead.

    One of the 'ultimate' pedal platforms without doubt, although the weight of the (albeit compact) 2x12 format isn't to everyones' taste.

    Riveras seem cheap as chips these days.  I run mine as two differently voiced clean channels rather than relying on the overdrive from the "lead" channel so I end up with one very spanky, sparkly clean and another much warmer sound.  (I do the Lead channel with MV up all the way and preamp to set the volume.  Clean channel doesn't have an MV.)

    Selmer TnB 50/100s are excellent pedal platform amps in my experience

    @andyg_prs ;

    This thread was about 50’s Tweed Tones: https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/281366/50s-tweed-tones/p1  but if you read what @ICBM had to say right near the bottom about different speakers used in the various models, it might be of some use.

    I use a Tonemaster Princeton for Small and some medium gigs with the DI out to the PA. for bigger gigs either a Carr Rambler or a 74 Silverface Deluxe Reverb. I wouldn’t really want to lift anything heavier these days but if I really had too I could field a 1970 Bandmaster Reverb with a Pre CBS BM Cab. I last used this rig in ‘22 on an outdoor party gig and it was superb.
