For sale is my Mark 1 Rhodes, built in 1979.

Fully restored in 2019 by Dan Goldman (of Rhodes Music and designer of the new Mk8), it plays perfectly and sounds incredible. I've played many Rhodes over the years and this is the best feeling one I've experienced. The action is light and smooth and there's plenty of dynamic range. The pedal works as it should with no issues. The controls work as intended and plugged in it sounds exactly as you'd hope.

Comes complete with case and all the hardware. Under my ownership (since 2019) it has lived in a smoke free home studio, and been taken to a few studio sessions and two live gigs.

Cosmetically there are plenty of imperfections - this is a 47 year old instrument and accordingly it has lots of character and wear and tear. The tolex is scuffed and damaged in parts, including on the transport case, there is some corrosion on the outer metalwork, the badge is wearing on the back and there are some small marks on the keys. This is not an exhaustive list - please see the pictures.

The only significant damage is to the plastic lid, which is cracked on the right hand side and has a small piece missing. This was broken before my ownership and has been glued and taped in the past. Replacement lids are available, but I chose to preserve the history and character of the instrument and leave it as is. This in no way affects the functionality or sound of the Rhodes. It is currently taped on the inside - I have attached pictures both with it taped up and left exposed.

The Eb below middle C is quieter than the other keys so may need adjusting if desired.

This is an instrument that has been well-used but extremely well-cared for, and mechanically it is excellent. It is absolutely ready to go for professional recording or live use.

Price is £3000 but I'll listen to serious offers. Ideally a straight sale, though I would consider trades for either high-end nearfield monitors or a BF / SF amp.
