From my perspective it's not easy to hear the difference in isolation. It's more of a feel thing plus a smoother transition from clean to distortion when pushing the output stage harder. Overall it's a much more compressed tone, especially in the upper mids / top end.  I've been a  Fender Clean plus pedals user for many years. I mainly play with clean tones with Strat / Tele type guitars. The whole Vox thing is new to me, I've played a couple of rehearsals using the AC20 model in Fractal - using amp for Clean / Very Light Drive / & Lead (using a boost in Fractal amp block). The real test comes tonight and tomorrow when I gig it...we'll see. The more compressed tone may not work well at all..

I'm not a massive expert on Vox tones, especially the clean tones. Is anyone able to post examples of these demo videos where the Vox cleans really shine? I'm normally a Fender guy when it comes to amp tones, but just interested to hear the alternative...
Around 50ish seconds in on here is a nice example.

I've really enjoyed the Morgan 20 and 40 ......they were excellent .
However NOTHING beats a Carr Lincoln (which was moddled on a very specific old AC10 ) ......overall ,it's the best Amp I have ever played .
The cleans just chime and ring sweetly ,never too overbright  or harsh .

One of the best "in the room" live sounds I've ever heard was the slightly-tatty Carr Lincoln of an excellent local player in a Bournemouth music pub. Harry Skinner, playing in a fine songwriters band called Dumb Poets, at the now-defunct Poole Hill Brewery, if anyone's interested. I can't remember what guitar he used, but the sounds burned themselves into my memory. As Dominic wrote, sweet, not harsh or shrill.

I had an AC30CC2 with Celestions in it. Didn't get on with it so moved it on. I then went an acquired another AC30CC2 after one glass of wine too many (2) which happened to have the Wharfedales in it. Much better behaved animal to my ears. For one thing you don't have to wring its neck to get any sort of a decent sound out of it. Also seconding @Voxman on the Laney front. I was fooling around the other days with said AC30 and a VC30-212 with HiWatt speakers fitted. Remarkably little to differentiate between them on the cleans front.
Old, overweight and badly maintained. Unlike my amps which are just old and overweight.
