I'm looking for something filthy. 

Kind of genre-inappropriate for everything.
Real filth but with a hint of fuzz to it especially when into an already overdriving amp.

But also not a hissy bastard either.

From vids of other versions, the Jam Rattler interests me as it seems to sound a bit different - on youtube anyway, but they are quite a bit more expensive and I have a mental block at spending that much on a drive pedal.

You don’t need a Waza version. Just get a standard one and clip the C25 capacitor off. 5 second job and turns the pedal into the Waza version.

HM-2 Heavy metal should be on your comparison list. Try one with a boost in front.  Then again, it is always surprising how much dirt you can get out of the humble Blues Driver.

They put an extra capacitor in the standard one, specifically to introduce hiss? Weird!

Get a Behringer UM300 Ultra Metal - it's basically a Metal Zone, but pink. And about £25 new.

I had one and A/B'd it with a MT-2 - I actually thought the Behringer sounded marginally better, it was slightly less harsh. Maybe they did the C25 mod? I didn't check.

I also changed the LED for a pink one, which improved it enormously. In the end I preferred the SF300 Super Fuzz though.
