You don’t need a Waza version. Just get a standard one and clip the C25 capacitor off. 5 second job and turns the pedal into the Waza version.
They put an extra capacitor in the standard one, specifically to introduce hiss? Weird!

@fretmeister Watch the Simon Neil episode on TPS. That will help to seal the deal ;-)
I watched it last night - he's got some great tones!

DS-2 maybe? Definitely hits fuzzy territory.

DS-2 in turbo mode is excellent

    Or FZ-2 / Behringer clone

If the PX-1 got the DS-2 as a model that might push me to buying one of those. Especially if the digital model had a lot less hiss.

Right - it turns out that I have a £50 Amazon voucher - I do various online surveys when I'm bored as I get a voucher a couple of times a year.

So I've basically got £50 off an MT-2W and I can easily return it if it isn't what I want.

    Fingers crossed!

I do wish someone would do a distortion that gets inspiration from the Dunlop Siete Santos - it's the Billy Gibbons Octave fuzz but it has a 7 band EQ that is before the fuzz circuit and it is incredibly versatile.

I know I could put an EQ pedal on my board but that takes up valuable space.

The MT-2 has one of the better eq sections of any drive pedal, so you’re definitely playing in the right pool.

Hope the Waza does what you need

Do you know if the MT2 EQ is pre or post drive? Or maybe split?

Anyone know any metal zone mods to widen the gain sweep. At the moment even at 0 its still pretty distorted. If i can get it down to low/medium gain at 0 its would be an even more versatile drive pedal.

    Warthog then
I was about to suggest the Warthog, particularly the Judge Dredd Deathbringer version

I saw a video on that yesterday.

    I’ll try and find it.

I am flattered that you think I can follow that! :dissapointed:

It's almost rock and a hard place... You (might) think I can follow it but if I show it to my eldest spawn she will mock me if I can't!

But would she know what to do with a dispute about an incorporeal hereditament....?

I reckon she's smart enough to know you want either a priest or an orthopaedic surgeon for that. Depending on how long you've left it untreated.

    MT-2W arrived.

Sounds pretty good but I am getting a nasty thump when turning on and off. Very noticeable even at gain and volume levels that are the same as my DS-1W.

Powered with a Cioks and chain position doesn’t seem to have any effect.

I have no idea if this is normal for this pedal but it’s annoying enough for me to send it back.

Yea I dont think that’s normal. I have and have had many Boss pedals in the past and none have thumped when turning on/off.

  • The MT-2W is good, but as I've mentioned elsewhere I'm a big fan of the old Digitech Death Metal.

Alternatively, you could try the Sonicake Cowboy. I saw it while browsing Amazon and thought it was worth a try for the asking price (about £26). It has two voices, one of which is far too scooped in the middle for my taste, but the other is surprisingly good with a bit of EQ tweaking. It's not going to dethrone the Death Metal but if I wanted to build a mini pedalboard, I think it would stand a decent chance of being my main filth-box.
