Hi Guys

I have 3 of these amazing little amps and have decided to sell one or possibly two and keep one.  This one is a '72 and is 100% original bar the valves.  Cosmetic condition is spot on too.

This amp is used regularly so not one that's just been hauled out of the attic after 25 years as is normally the case.  It is so quiet you don't know it's on and works exactly as it should.  No issues whatsoever.

It is stupidly clean throughout as you can see from the state of the chassis and I really can't see anything that's been changed, even the fuses are the originals which is unusual for old Marshalls.

It's got the old Bulgin plug and socket which work perfectly and stay together well, not loose at all.

The serial number (2301D) and chassis label confirm it was made in March '72.

These amps run EL84s so don't think 'Marshall'......the classic Marshall sound tends to come from the EL34 50/100 heads.  These are a much more versatile amp in my opinion and come somewhere between and old early 60s AC30 and an old Fender 50s/60s amp.  Eric Clapton reckons these are the best recording amps he's ever used.   With humbuckers the amp starts to break up at 11 o'clock and just keeps on going.  I've experimented using different preamp and output valves and in these amps they seem to really make quite a significant difference.  It just depends what you want and what cabinet/speakers you use.  Both channels are identical unlike the 50/100 watt heads so when jumpered you just get a gain boost so I always use them jumpered permanently.

I'm happy to sell the amp and I think £950 is a fair price. The new reissue of this head is £1199 at discount so.......?!  A number of these heads have been sold on Ebay over the last year or two and they have all had major issues, in the main changed transformers which was quite common with early 70s Marshall heads, or a 'full' service at Marshall which normally means everything is stripped out and replaced with new parts.

I'm equally happy to consider a straight trade and have a fairly open mind but I'd probably value the head slightly higher for a trade.  Ideally vintage guitars/amps or fender bass.  Very interested in a 70s fender P bass.  Please PM me with any trade ideas?  Thanks.

I'm happy to pack the amp up for shipping but would prefer that the buyer sorts out shipping although I'm happy to do that if necessary.  Shouldn't cost a lot via UPS.  I shipped one of these last year for £12 within the UK using UPS so not a major investment!!!  :)

Any questions please just ask!  If anyone is looking for a cab to use with the head I have a 1x12 made from solid 150 year old Yew, all dove tail joints etc.  Also a 2x12 made from solid pine, again dove tail joints.  Also have speaker options.
