That video is nonsense.  An asteroid wouldn't have a glowing hot core.

Plus.... yeah.... it'll probably happen one day, with a more realistic asteroid, but the average time interval between major impacts on Earth is so great the odds of it happening in any individual's lifetime are infinitesimally small.

True, but our odds of preventing one that happens to come along, if it does, is nil. Extinction level events can be a tad ouchy!
