Sorry - I wasn't clear,  I was referring to those functions and if it's not instant and clear then I might as well get my phone out.    The music thing just struck me as a handy bonus depending how much it can store.

That's the thing which makes the watch so crazy, there's no point in it being able to play music as you need to have your phone on you anyway, which will have a better battery life and be able to do Bluetooth!

My boss told me "dress for the job you want, not the job you have"... now I'm sat in a disciplinary meeting dressed as Batman.

You can physically store music (up to 2gb I think) on the watch to listen to via Bluetooth headphones), but if you don't take your phone (or have it within range) with you on a run, in the gym or whatever then you won't get notifications, it'll just do the health tracking, play music and tell the time.

As I understand it, the watch can act as a remote for music on your phone - which sounds handy if I'm walking and have my phone in my pack,  or you can store a playlist on the watch and leave the phone behind - not sure how much you can store but PVO_Dave will know.

Edit - yes he does.  It's a shame you can't get email and txt notifications without having the phone nearby - that was one of the features I wanted.

I didn't realise that they were advertising it as able to store music. Am I right in thinking that it doesn't do gps tracking without a phone?

That's right, gps only if the phone is with you.

For the last ten years, I've found people who take their phones out of their pockets to check the time annoying.

Now I'm going to find people who glance at their wrists to check their messages annoying.

My brother has one on order. He works for apple so naturally he ends up getting most of the new stuff. I've already ribbed him for it especially as he now won't be wearing his nice TAG watch.

Personally I won't buy one. I have a nice Oakley Blade watch which I hope will last me many more years. Unlike the iWatch that will be obsolete within a year or two. I don't fancy having to charge a watch every night either.

The name sounds far to much like a porn addict's confession...
At the risk of sounding like a fanboy, it isn't actually called the iWatch, it's called the Apple Watch :p

All the ones I've seen look pretty naff besides, I'm a Luddite so I won't be buying one anytime soon. What's wrong with sundials and hour glasses for chrissake?

@beed84 - I mean an expensive watch. I've got a Rolex - I know someone who owns a Patek Philippe, a Breitling and a Omega.

I can't imagine next time I see him that he'll be wearing an iWatch.
If he does, I'll happily look after the Patek.

    Guy at work has one.

He kept playing with it and it was nearly flat by lunchtime.

I'm not a watch wearer but if I was I'd stick with something like a wrist mounted sundial!
