My first Volute!

Really tidy for a '79, just a couple small marks on the edge and 2 teeny weeny pinpricks in the rosewood top.
I would prefer a neck shim, just a wee one to kick it back a touch, but it handles things rather well.

They were everywhere in the late '70s - yet haven't seen one in years. I wonder where they all went?

    Looks fantastic.

    Congratulations.

Very nice..I like that. Stunning for a 36 yr old guitar. Looks very well put together and I love the contrasting wood sections.

Through neck & through body stringing is a win on any guitar. Very nice.

I've always liked those but then I usually like most double cut guitars.
That's in lovely condition apart from the weird string spacing. Nothing a new nut won't cure.

That's a real beauty, they don't make 'em like that anymore. Congratulations. :)

I had one of these as a kid.

Mine was the light coloured version of this one.

    Thanks all.
I need to have someone fashion me a brass nut for this, I can do my own pre slotted bone jobbies, but I can't work metal due to lack of skillz/tools.

I think they did a reissue of these in the '90s as well.

I remember mine was heavy and pretty solid. Was a good guitar and very well put together. Splits on the humbuckers and good hardware.

    @stonevibe
it looks nice in maple, I'd hazard a guess it would sound brighter too.

I do love the metal box the electrics are housed in, superb idea!

I had an identical one - but mine had a brass nut... Or was it half brass half bone? I have a sneaking feeling it was half n half.

Mine was SG2000 territory in terms of weight but I loved the finish.

I'm sure it was split in the middle somehow.

Spec sheets and catalogues say brass....

I've googled and maybe it was on an old Ibanez - as all the pics I found of a half and half were on Ibanez guitars.

    Memory playing tricks perhaps...
