Ooh... 'sagacious' - that's a new word to me.  I shall have to look that up forthwith !

I have decided that it's staying put until I have a solution in place that will definitely work.  I'm not risking it slipping / falling off some Heath-Robinson effort (showing my age now...).  I intend to acquire 2 x 8ft scaffolding planks that I will join together with either large hinges (so they can fold) or bits of 2 x 2.  Then I'm going to cover the surface with some spare roofing felt I have left over from the shed.  I will chuck a bit of old rug down to get it to grip enough to make it to the start of the ramp.

You'd still need a ramp Emp but maybe plastic paving/gravel grids would do for the grassy/muddy run - pretty cheap and modular. I got a stack for when the new workshop area was a recreation of the Somme.

It's getting worse.  I got me some scaffold planks, laid them down with supports underneath, cleaned the tyres, put a strip of old carpet under the back wheel.....

.....Got it 3/4 of the way up the ramp and the rear wheel slipped off the planks, leaving the front wheel about a foot off the ground and me out of reach of anything to put under the side stand!

Eventually I spotted a half-buried brick that I could just about reach.  Very very slowly let the front wheel slide off the side of the planks and put the brick under the side stand.

She's now stuck against my neighbour's shed and I'm in a worse position than before.

    WTF was I thinking ?

This thing weighs more than an upright piano and I'm trying to ride it uphill, on mud, with slicks on.

Where do you live Emp?  Want me to see if I can make my way over and give you a hand?

Very kind of you but it's ok, I've got a mate who's coming over to help.  I think when it finally gets in the shed, this will be the only winter it's there.  There's no way I'm ever attempting this again!

Maybe make it into a path?  Even gravel would be infinitely better than muddy grass.

Hope you measured across the handlebars by the way!

Emp, are you actually sitting on the bike trying to ride it up ?

I tried both ways, on the bike and by the side....  on the bike it slipped, and by the side was just too dangerous on my own.  I couldn't hold the bike upright safely as it got higher up the ramp.  Anyway - all sorted now.  My mate came over and between us, we got it in the shed.  It wasn't easy by any means, but it's in there now.  Wheels caked in mud, which I'll need to clean off somehow whilst still in the shed.

It's not going in the shed next year - if I'm still here and still have the bike.  Not unless I've got a proper plan....

    How about something like this

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/PARKER-12V-Electric-Winch-000LB/dp/B0D11MN121?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A19IUWKGNZ6XK1

Fixed to a secure point in the shed and used to pull the bike in.  Might have to be a very secure point.

Emp, do yourself a favour and make sure your shed is well ventilated or you might come back to it in the spring and find it covered in rust and mould.

    Ask me how I know.

Glad to hear you got it sorted. Bl**dy bikes do try your patience to the limit (and beyond) at times.

By this time next year hey...

First thing I did was run a long extension to the shed and put my dehumidifier in there.  I'm going to be keeping a close eye on the levels.  Thanks for the tip.

Good idea but will be expensive to run after a while.
Buy 'Dry Pole' passive de-humidifiers......hang 2 up .......they are excellent .
Invented for metal shipping containers that run with condendation when at sea .

    I imagine you're glad you didn't go for a Hayabusa @Emp_Fab.

It's all in the trousers, Gentlemen!  I just did 3 hours in S. Wales, snow on the ground and in the hills.  The heated trousers are magnificent.  I've a feeling the jacket would probably have been just as good had I not been too tight and gone for the remote battery option on the puffer rather than running a jacket off the bike.  Still, all works well and it's a weird feeling being comfortable in weather which would have been hard previously.  Having my legs warm/hot makes all the difference to me though.  I do wonder whether it gives a false sense of security in shit conditions, but should be okay if that is front of mind?

If you're suffering the winter lull and want something moto related to cheer you up, this might be the ticket.

You're probably aware of Fortnine on YouTube, well they've made a feature film about their round the world record attempt.

It's $9.99 for keeps and comes out on December 27th. Details here:

Can you give me a link to this please ?  @Dominic. ; All I keep finding are 'dry rod' electrically powered 'dehumidifiers' (which seem to be little more than heaters).
