Where to buy a body blank?

I want to get an Alder blank in order to build my first project guitar but struggling a bit to find somewhere to get one from.  The main issue is that I need something bigger than the standard Strat sized piece.  Doesn't have to be a huge amount bigger but I need something about 21" x 15".

How likely might a local timber merchant be to stock this kind of wood or am I limited to buying from a guitar wood specialist?

Any suggestions?

what you planning on making - 15" is quite wide and I doubt you will get a 1-piece

Thanks guys, actually looking at it, you're right Wez, 15" is too wide, I'd need about 14".

My plan is to replicate this Jag/Strat hybrid that John Squire used in the early 90s:

How close is that to a Jazz bass outline?

It's pretty similar but not similar enough I think.  I did originally think it was a Jazz bass body but I've chatted with the guy who made the originals and it is a jaguar back end with Strat front.

I'm keen to try making it as a project just need to find some wood now.  Looks like there are custom sized options on Guitarbuild so that might well be worth a shout
