I won the First Guitarbuild body! Some more progress...

Thanks Megii, and yes! Althoughit will take a while to collect decent parts as a cheap ol neck from the bay of e won't really do!

I'll start a build thread somewhen.......

I went for a Tele Thinline, 1 piece Swamp Ash with a 1 piece Walnut top, with a decent clear finish, it should look the mutts!

Need a decent neck and hardware for this one! I don't think Halfords satin black rattlecan will be quite appropriate!

It will be in the mail tomorrow....

Current thoughts,

Clear Nitro finish to the neck and body

CTS pots, decent 3 way switch

Locking tuners

Prob a Wilkinson 3 saddle compensated bridge, cos I like them.

Good quality vintage wind pups, perhaps Oil City, need to research....

Congratulations!

On a side note, it doesn't look like you can fit a standard Thinline pickguard to those bodies, the knobs and switches have to be mounted directly to the wood. They all seem to be like that - anybody know why?

Coincidentally it was the most expensive one on offer! Looks really nice and should look good with a clear coat, should be at the Post Office when I get back to the South Island......heading to Symonds Yat for a midweek break.....

So some more parts arrived...CTS pots and Tele chrome knobs, neck plate, Wilkinson bridge, Locking tuners, Allparts unfinished fat Strat neck. Dry fitted everyrhing then stained and lacquered the neck after dressing the heel end square to fit the Tele neck heel rout, fitted some Wilkinson pickups from the parts bin and wired it up, neck pup is screwed direct to the floor of the rout with P Bass screws, not sure whether to use a chrome pickup ring or not.....there a straight nut in a curved slot, cos like a retard I threw the correct nut away with the neck packaging, bt the time I realised, the bin had been emptied, another should be here today! Need steing trees...

Body is so light that it's a touch neck heavy, that must be a first for a Tele!

Now waiting for The Creamery to do its thing and amke me Tele sized P90's.....

Anyroadup....photos....neck looks a bit yellow in the photos, the second photo is the best representation...
