User BDJohnson has been banned. After a busy morning posting links to tin hat conspiracy theories, and then ranting when his thread was closed, he was due for a spell in the cooler.

However, on closer inspection it turns out this is his second attempt to pollute us with tinhattery - his first go, user Brian Johnson was binned a while back, for posting yet more tinhattery. 

He may think his banning is a conspiracy, but it’s not - he’s banned for multiple accounts, and the unimaginative names he’s chosen really didn’t make it hard to link the two...

Birdbrother is banned for being deadgrateful, who flounced in December 2020 after he misrepresented the guitar he was trying to sell.

Raw lumber vs bought in parts thread has gone. 

As a discussion, it was doomed from the off. It was clearly an attempt to have a snide dig at some businesses, and that’s not acceptable. 

It’s been retained in an admin area of the forum - so we have a record of it. 

This sort of discussion won’t happen again, because that would be carrying over an argument from another thread, and that’s against the rules. 

You have all been warned. Any more and we will put a stop to it pretty quickly. We aren’t as green as we are cabbage looking.

Chris78 is spending a week in the cooler. 

This is an opportune time for him to spend some time contemplating his contributions - in particular, it’s an opportunity for him to consider his passive aggressive postings, his wholesale derailing of most threads in the coronavirus section, and put some consideration to what is meant by “not carrying over arguments from one thread to another”.

I suspect that he will find the cooler hard going, given his dislike for imposed restrictions and lockdowns, but it’s for the greater good of the community.

Freebird is also spending a week in the cooler.

A fair warning was issued (again) in the thread that landed Chris78 in the cooler. Most decided to PM an apology - that’s appreciated.

Freebird chose it as an excuse to reiterate his point. When then warned again, he chose to blame everyone else. 

Regardless of how convinced you are by your opinions and no matter how right you may be, posting in a passive aggressive and derailing argumentative style isn’t tolerated. Neither is arguing the toss with a modmin. 

We don’t want flowers, chocolates and hugs, just a bit of basic recognition of what we are asking in our warnings. Some seem to get that, others clearly don’t.

Gretschjet has been banned, for - unsurprisingly - threatening legal action based on me asking for specifics of his complaint, rather than the bluster and threats of going to the police and a  "Liable Specialist" that I actually got.

No, I don't know what one of those is, either.

Clarkefan has been permanently banned for threatening legal action against the forum.

Here's a serious tip: if you want to flag something for our attention, don't say "Do <something>, otherwise I'm calling the police" and then refuse to even acknowledge the threat and accuse me of racism. He was given three chances to acknowledge it, and every time chose instead to "explain" to me that if I banned him it would be because of my support for racism.

That sort of behaviour is not going to make me receptive to your argument. It's just going to mark you as a threat to the forum's existence, and our policy is to remove those threats as per rule #9.

Phil_b has been banned. It's a perma-ban as well. The reason for that is the same reason his new alter-ego Philb1 has been banned. Very clear in the rules - only one account. Any attempt to have two accounts is a permanent ban.

The cooler is just that, a chance to cool off and have a think about a particular posting behaviour. After time served, you're let back in. If you can't have the patience or respect for our rules to sit it out and do the time and insist on trying to get back in by the back door, then you'll be permanently banned.
