    The Dremel one is shite.
The Stew Mac one is excellent.

I second that the Dremel one is total shit. Go for the Stew Mac, some time ago Feline showed a base that he had made specifically for the Dremel that had a Perspex base, not sure if he was selling them might be worth contacting him.

That luthiertools one looks simmilar to the stewmac.
Looks like his payment gateway is down, maybe email him?

I made a new baseplate for the StewMac one.
I can make them - but you'd need the Stewmac part to start with.

How come you replaced the stew mac base?

I remember using it and the metal base scratched the shit out of a maple fretboard. Had to put tape over it.

Perspex allows you to see what you are doing a bit easier.

Jonathan, if you have a spare perspex one I could really do with it.

You used to be able to get one elsewhere, but maybe that supplier has gone... I agree the plastic one is shite. I've only been able to use it once in anger when I needed to use a guide bush that the stewmac and clones don't accommodate.

That's worth knowing thanks, but at £54 compared to the £38 of the other one it is less appealing financially, and far more likely to appear on the excess scanner of she who must be obeyed.

I use the Proxxon base and it works very well (for me).

I do use the Proxxon drill though so the Dremel may not fit.

    Its good value though.

Well, it's over a week and no response from either the website contact form or the email address that I found buried on the site. I'm off elsewhere.

Oh bugger! foiled at every turn!!!!

That bloody Woodwork site (link above) for the more expensive router baseplate is not active until 24th June as they are away!!

This is a major pain in the ass, I just can't get this blasted guitar going.

it is a stewmac. One from America would take 4 weeks or so, way longer.
