Nitrocellulose & bubble wrap

Jack_Jack_ Frets: 3175
Hi,

Someone has sent me a guitar body panted with nitrocellulose, and they've sent it to me packed in bubblewrap, which has left marks all over the body.

Fortunately it's only a cheap body for a project, so getting it perfect isn't required, but what is the best way of cleaning it up?

Wet sanding? Or can I get away with just using abrasive polishing agents?

if its not too bad you should be able to polish them out with some compound

I've already used a bit of Scratch X, but was considering getting something a bit more abrasive like T Cut or Autoglym Paint Restorer, or something else I can get from Halfords.

Farecla G3 is a proper cutting compound, used in pro shops for donks. Might be available in Halfords, or motor factor, auto body supply shops.

To add - get some micro fibre cloths if poss. Leaves less marks than t shirts etc

I would use micro mesh - use it wet and go through the grades and it will probably end up better than it was originally.

I've got it pretty good using Scratch X, but my god does it take some serious buffing.

Farcela G3 sounds pretty much the same as Scratch X. I'm using microfibres.

These things are all fairly similar, scratch x is meant as a quickie diy thing for localised marks. G3 is a pro cutting/buffing compound for whole cars etc. G6 is the same but coarser, faster cutting, for deeper marks or old hardened paint.
