Separate from the iPhone 7 thread.

What do you think about the new apple Airpods?

Some really clever tech in these and they are sexy and have a cool factor for sure. The real test for me is how they will sound.

At £159 they are pretty expensive and potentially attractive to thieves who could snatch them from your ear in a busy street quite easily as they will pair up with any device.

I think losing them is more of a risk than ear-mining louts and ne'erdowells.

There's even a nice long handle to yank them out of someone's ear, can't help think that something that tucked behind the ear might have been better, but hey I haven't tried one so only guessing.

  • Passengers on the sticky floor or a bus or train? That will be someone looking for a dropped one.

Unless they are sufficiently magnetic to squeeze your head.

  • Knowing my wife they'd end up in the washing machine 3 days after I get them...

  • They will crunch well under size 10s on the bus, train, tube when you drop one trying to put it in

worse thing is you have to trek to your local (often not that local) Apple store to endure a spotty faced youth posing as an Apple Genius or whatever they like to be called to try them out.

I would rather insert shards of hot bamboo under my finger nails that suffer the happy Apple Mantra schmaltz just to hear them

...but I do want a pair!

In an age where it seems you have at least one gadget (phone, computer etc) charging at any one time, it would be nice not to have to add headphones to that equation.

For the most part, I think the design of Apple products is pretty slick. Their earphones, however, are the worst fitting in-ears I've ever tried - cannot get them to stay in my ears no matter what. And they sound pants. So it's a no from me on the buds.

  • They could have at least offered th with some sort of hoop to go round the back of the head that they clip/tie to

Should have gone with an over-ear design.

  • How long until an adapter comes out that extends the length of the iPhone with a secondary battery lightning port and a headphone socket!
