Pickup wire....formvar or enamel

Just spent an hour with Mat at 'House of Tone' pickups. He showed me the difference between my 60s Fender Strat pups (enamel wire) and his own custom made ones with formvar wire. His had more articulation..esp. on in between pup sounds ...food for thought!!! Jon

Isn't it more to do with thickness of the coating and how that affects the wind?

Also, I doubt the type of coating is the only variable here
