Also, if you alter your tap you can get other subdivisions.

Mostly use digital delay but love tape, analog and digital with mod for dreamy type ambient stuff!

It's a nice filler, and adds a bit without getting in the way.
Always on is inadvisable, to my ears.

Then a new smaller board meant the DD-20 had to go and space issues meant I couldn't get the tap foot switch cable into the DD-7.
The sky did not fall in.
There was not a single song in the set where tap tempo was essential.
So these days I just rotate the knob to where the echoes are either short, medium, or long. (Probably about 150ms, 300ms; 400ms); two or three repeats; and a dark tonal quality.
Using a Flashback Mini which is gloriously unsophisticated but actually sounds fine.
On all the time they play guitar?
I can only imagine how annoying that would sound.
