Does a Les Paul Come with it's Scratchplate Fitted?

Depends on the model and year I suppose. I would rather they came without them fitted as I don't like them on, but some do. Obviously this means I would rather have no ugly pre-drilled holes showing once I take a fitted SP off.

I'm thinking more of the Studio Models, but enlighten me anyway with your knowledge.

Edit: I'm only assuming the holes are not pre-drilled in the factory as I saw a youtube vid for "fitting a........blah blah" where it appeared to me you have to drill your own holes for the screws.

My 2014 Les Paul Standard came without a scratch plate and no pre-drilled holes.

Most have it, I think I've only ever seen studios that don't.

I've had standards that don't, trads that do, and of course all the custom shop reissues do..

Not so - Custom Shop reissues are often shipped without the pickguard fitted - some examples here:

If the plate's already fitted but you don't want it on, you can temporarily fill the holes with wax. Just get a wax crayon that's a close colour match, rub it over the hole till it's filled, then polish with a soft cloth. Doesn't show unless you're looking close and it's easy to refit the plate if you want.

Mines a 2003 Standard and no scratchplate or holes.
