SOLD: Burny Les Paul - MiJ - RLG85 - £400!!!
What's Hot
NOW SOLDDescription revised to reflect the advise regarding the model of this guitar....
Here's a superb Les Paul made by the highly regarded Japanese Burny company - part of Fernandes.
I've owned a few Les Pauls over the years including a Gibson USA Les Paul Custom and a Studio and I absolutely believe this equals them for tone, playability, looks and build quality. In fact, I would choose this over a USA Gibson any day!
Although most Burnys don't have serial numbers, 'Made in ....' stamps or model number markings I've been reliably informed, and all the features confirm this, that this is an RLG85. This is consistent with the absence of a 'Les Paul' type logo on the headstock, the 3x screw truss rod cover, the maple cap and the long tenon joint with the tongue that sits under the neck pickup (shown in the last picture). These retailed for around £750, so although not the highest end of the £1000+ MIJ range, still a great spec guitar. If you google Burny RLG85 you'll find a great YouTube demo...
Along with similar Tokai, Greco and Edwards MIJ Les Pauls, Burnys have become collectible in recent years and I've read reviews which suggest that the Burnys are the best, although I'm sure the others all great too.
This one has had a couple of upgrades including a set of Gibson USA Deluxe tuners and a new hand wired Shugz loom which really opens up the sound. The guitar is in superb condition with no significant wear and only minor marks (including a small one to the back of the neck). It's very well set up and plays brilliantly.

It is very tempting
@"William Williamson" I've just sold the BKPs otherwise I would have been happy to consider that - though I have to say I much prefer the original pups for this guitar...
@Jez6345789 - I'm not sure what the original Burny pups are but they're not the collectible VH series from the 80s range.
These are getting harder to ID now they've changed manufacture process.
Here's further info on it

It's not a 90's guitar, no way no how. These are THEE "budget" of the budget MIJ LPs and are quite new to Burny's lineup. The chinese RLG/C I would say are better - however that's neither here nor there.
Would you take £200 ? That's a decent offer id say... priced against what RLGs MIC get (around£250 mark)
cheers dude, hope the info helped and peeps can price it right. HOWEVER yours has a scarf joint and a typical MIC neck/head carve...so it's still quite an enigma. Its definitley aimed at the budget end of the market

Also to add to the confusion unless removed all or most Burny have Made in and/or serial numbers hidden about the place.
If it wasn't for the newer budget MIJ I would certainly peg this as MIC (i've owned/sold about 20 of these things)
Edit: thanks for the RLG lead - that's the best bit of info I've had on this as to a possible model number :-) Whilst these may be the cheaper end of the MIJ range, they seemed to retail for about £750 so I think given the upgrades mine is priced pretty well...
Edit, it's this chap, he knows His Burnys

I was the previous owner of this. it's a cracking guitar go play it if you get the chance. I gigged it for 5 years while my sg and 335 didn't get a look in.
Priced for a quick sale: £425 (plus £50 for the case if required)
