  • The Cult - Hidden City

Latest album from one of my favourite rock bands, purchased earlier today from Fopp.
Embarrassingly I only found out they had a new album yesterday, (it was released in February).
First listen sounds good, if a little predictable. There's some cool guitar licks.
I wouldn't really say the album is predictable... But each to their own.
I think each album stands out on its own quite well :)
But I do kinda see where you're coming from.

  • I've been listening to some of Pat Metheny's solo guitar arrangements.  His version of Rainy Days and Monday's is fantastic:

I like a bit of Shuggie, saw him with a pick up band at The Bear 20 odd years ago. If you can find the track Shuggie's Chittlin Blues it's the track that blew my mind as a teenager and sold me on classic electric blues guitar.

  • Pat Metheny live 1975.....

However he went from this to become the "soccer mom of jazz guitar" I'll never know.

Can't believe this guy is 85. Brilliant stuff. Cave and Cohen has got to be on the cards after this song.

  • Blackberry Smoke's "Holding All the Roses" album.
Their new one ("Like an Arrow") is tooooo country for my liking. After listening to the previews and seeing the price had been reduced, I got the predecessor instead. No regrets. :)

I really liked "The Whippoorwill", so, definitely a good progression from there

  • Sylosis - Dormant Heart.

I posted a thread about it a while back, been listening to it a lot again.  I honestly think it is one of the best metal albums I've heard.
