Anyone tried moulding their own plastic knobs?

Not a 70s request from the Plaster Casters by the way ....

I fancy trying to make some moulds of some bass knobs and producing my own from black plastic. Anyone attempted anything like this? I think that I could sort out a mould, but I'm not sure what I could melt to set as hard black plastic?

I think that's the best way. I have looked into it a few times but never progressed with the idea.

Alternatively, I did some using Polymorph which comes as beads which melt in boiling water. Then you can roll cut mold etc. mix paint in and glitter and it works really well. A few quid for a bag on Amazon. Don't bother buying the official paints though as you can just mix watercolour paints in and it works fine. LEDs can embed too, which is fun.
