I tend to be better off under Tory budgets and worse off under Labour. Not that that makes one better than the other, but at least I can prepare for it

Back in the 70s my school day finished at 4:00 pm - my old school shorted the school day by 45 minutes in the 1980s so I don't get all this Victorian bollocks.

My son starts early and finishes school at 2:55 each day. Shall we swap anecdotes all day or shall we engage with the point I made?
I was making reference to the fact that there's been an underlying difficulty for at least 15 years with retaining teachers.
This is now being compounded by a significant fall in people enrolling to train as teachers.
You can organise a school anyway you want. The bottom line is there ain't enough teachers to go round and the workforce is in danger of shrinking further.

For anyone reading who may be affected (i.e. anyone with kids in 2dy school) the lack of new entrants into the profession should be of concern to us all, as should the lack of subject specialists especially in maths and languages.
