Doesn't say if its a 24 hour outlet, but I can understand this happening if it is. Someone in the store just popping their head in to see what it looks like is likely to ignore a locked door. Only when it starts to smell would someone looking it further. Grim though.

As an aside, I've always loved the fact that Burger King is known as Hungry Jack's in Australia - apparently when they expanded there, someone already had a takeaway called Burger King and told them unequivocally to shove it. Victory for the little people!

I can kinda see how this happened, although it's still shocking. I'd guess they don't have a full time toilet cleaner, so it'll be down to one of the staff sticking his/her head round the door a couple of times a day, maybe doing a clean up every now and then. ( I never believe those hourly check sheets). If the trap's engaged they'll just assume it's someone having a dump, not that there's a dead guy inside. Surprising it wasn't picked up when they shut down at the end of the night though.

Thing is if you OD on a toilet, the place is often open 24hrs, someone in the toilet, you don't open the door, it's a non story. Obviously you don't smell them until a few days after the flies have laid their eggs in their eyeballs. This is a story about respecting personal privacy on the toilet, not the abandonment of humanity. Stupid press.

The only thing I have learned from this is that @octatonic is a snob, which I knew anyway, because he attains to be middle class.
