I often slip them deliberately into conversation, to see if anybody notices. My current favourite is "a damp squid".

The words wee you's depend much more on the context, knot the meaning.

There's a difference between regional/local forms of words or sentences which may be fine in one part of the country but are unknown and therefore viewed with suspicion on other parts of the country. and outright wrong forms of words or sentences.

Quite often these misuses are down to plain laziness. The use  of "could of" instead of "could have" comes to mind. If you actually think what the words themselves mean then it's obvious.

Also "could of" only really stands out in written form, in spoken form it's easily taken as "could've" which is presumably where the confusion has arisen

I lost my watch at a party once.
An hour later I saw some guy stepping on it while he was sexually harassing some woman.
Infuriated, I immediately went over, punched him and broke his nose.
No one does that to a woman, not on my watch.

If only we could have a forum of well educated people, well versed in the English language, then we wouldn't get upset over grammatical errors.  I long for that day.

My brother in law is English but has learnt to speak Welsh pretty well. Non-Welsh speakers always have trouble pronouncing diphthongs (two adjacent vowels). He was speaking with a work colleague once and he tried to explain that another colleague hadn't arrived yet because she was late ("hwyr"). He struggled with the y after the w and it came out as "hwr", which means "whore".

Incorrect usage of "myself" and "I".

They're always saying "[character] and I" on Neighbours in cases where they should say "and me". I wonder if that's an Australian thing

I know a chap who shares my amusement at the incorrect use of Less or Fewer, though he is on a whole other level as he won't use tills in tesco which are labelled "ten items or less"

No, it's not just an Australian thing - it happens a lot here too, and I vaguely remember a speech of Bill Clinton where he got it wrong as well.

This is one case where a little education is a dangerous thing. Lots of kids say "Bob and me went down the shops" and are corrected and told to say "Bob and I ..." They then get the idea fixed in their head that they should never say "and me", and always change it to "and I".
