Why aren't Vai's Ibanez's called Vaibanez?

His guitars have always been ostentatious and ugly. I had a mate who had one, and he looked ridiculous when he used it live.

Why oh why oh why with the handle? There may well be some kind of reason, but look-wise I can't stand that design feature.

In some interviews he says they just put that in as a pointless but obvious feature that no one would copy.

Actually pretty good for getting it out of the case ;-) I've got the BFP Premium Jem and love it!

It looks a little like it has a skin disease- those pickup covers don't work in its favour either. The whole effect tickles the ole' trypophobia.

I have to say- I have looked 4 times at this now- and I quite like it.

I mean I wouldn't be seen dead playing it but it's nice.

I love the pickup covers but it looks wrong with the plain one on the middle pickup.

Not a fan of plain wood finishes, and don't like the pickguard/headstock veneer.

But then I think the Floral is by far and away the best one… there's one in the shop right now and I'm *really* tempted to buy it, even though on paper it's not my thing at all.
