I sang this song at this week's jam in celebration of Autumn, with the chorus of "And the leaves turn from red to brown . . ." It is essentially the same chord progression as Bach's Air On A G String / the Hamlet Cigar ad, with a descending bassline under a standard I vi IV V progression. I'll notate it in C, although it's played with a capo at the 3rd fret so it sounds in Eb. The progression is
||C |C/B |Am |Am/G |F | |G | ||
This week we'll look at the C/B chord in the progression. Next week I'll do the Am/G chord, but I'll source it from a more famous song, by the Beatles. A wis for the person who can identify the Beatles song! I'll use that to start a series on Beatles chords, inspired by the publicity around the Eight Days A Week film. Can't believe I haven't done a Beatles chords series yet!
Here's the C/B
C/B: x20010
It occurs at 0:16 in the official video, but remember it's capo'd at the third fret so it sounds as Eb/D
