I assume people have seen these now, the new standard (except in price).

Been itching for a Jaguar for ages, wondering if this is the place to jump in but looking at it I'm not sure.

Thoughts?

It's annoying that these aren't on the (generally rubbish anyway) Fender website yet.

Are they replacing the Standard then?

It's funny that treble bleed is being highlighted as a big new feature, I wonder if everyone reading that know it's a 50p mod lol

I can't believe I can't find a single picture of the new Tele ashtray cover which supposedly is cut down and allows palm muting.
(Sounds like the old Strat bridge covers...)

It just goes over the brass saddles.  The bridge plate is "vintage" height by the saddles and then dips down lower.

They will be on the site on Wednesday I believe.

  • Personal preferences for just about all the specs that they've got rid of aside, they seem a bit bloody pricey, no?

The butterscotch American Pro Tele looks uncomfortably like an American Vintage 52 from a distance but just seems wrong close up with modern tuners and other appointments, plus the orange butterscotch is reminiscent of pre-2012 AV52s. I also think the rosewood neck Teles look wrong with brass saddles.

I preferred American Series with the milled block saddles.

But I am a traditionalist, set in my ways, grumpy old man.

I wonder if the AV series is due a revamp?

I stumbled on a Telecaster Pro this afternoon. It looks very good. The 'Deep C' profile sound interesting.
I noticed no body contours on these as per the previous model USA Std Tele.

    Narrow-Tall frets too.
I'd like to try one to see how it feels more than how it sounds.
It's going to sound like a Tele i reckon !

    Isn't inflation a wonderful thing....

  • The spec is less to my liking to be honest, on paper anyway. Overall I really liked the previous spec on all the classic guitar and basses (great off the shelf), but I realise they've got to go somewhere. Best of luck Fender. Will try one out at some point I'm sure!

  • You'd think prices might come down a bit now too... I mean, I know the pound fell post Brexit, but it's not like the US haven't just raised the bar in the "fuck you, Jonny Foreigner" stakes

I'm still shocked that you have to pay over £500 for a Mexican Standard. No fecking way.

@MattFGBI Are these pickups by the same guy who did the Shawbucker? That was a brilliant pick up.

    Yes, Tim Shaw.

The Humbuckers in the Strat and Tele are new Shawbuckers too.

The decal placement on the Telecaster's always looks wrong. They keep the Strat's decal in the traditional position so why not the Tele? Nice bridge on the Tele though, bit like a Glendale with the scooped sides. I bought one of the first US Standards new back in....err...1989 from Roka's for £425....

    I played one today.

It's (To me) the way a Strat should always have been. I might have liked them more in the past if it had been.

The new neck is great, feel like my PRS.
The new frets are stunning. I found that the best part of it. Narrow/Tall Apparently.

    Pickups are very good.
Very clear, i only played clean but it was really powerful for what i remember a clean Strat to sound like. Punchy but still really articulate and nothing like cheap, standard production types.
The whole thing felt amazing and i can't believe i'm typing this about a Strat.
(For those that don't know me personally, i fell out with Strats some time ago and have been anti-strat ever since).

It might only be a small change but to me it's made a huge difference.
    Well done Fender.

It's still a bit expensive but as everything goes up in price it's not something that would stop me buying one.
    Used it's a stunning prospect.

The shawbucker that was in the HSS american deluxe strat was a great pickup.
