If i was a famous aging drummer, Id be shitting bricks about now...
One of the nicest blokes in rock and a fantastic rhythm guitarist.
Rick and Francis were probably my first guitar heroes. Aged 11 the earliest riffs I learned were Quo ones and I used to listen to their greatest hits tape non stop during my first year as a guitarist. I remember my dad taking me to Musical Exchanges in Birmingham to buy me an amp in 1992. I remember asking to try out this little Marshall Lead 20 with a real Telecaster (because that's what my heroes had) and cranking out the intro to Caroline. The guy in the shop seemed bemused that, when invited to pick any guitar off the wall to try this amp, I picked a plain old Tele rather than a neon coloured Ibanez that were very much in vogue at the time.
Rest in peace Rick. Thank you for the music and the inspiration you've given to me and countless others.
RIP Rick....
News about Rick is really sad .. saw Status Quo loads of times in the 70s. Great band - Rick will be sadly missed. RIP.
Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!
Parfitt came across as a great chap in the documentary about Quo. He'll be missed for sure.
