Red guitars go faster, it's well known.

I would say red is more prevalent due to Mr Clapton
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

Cherry is the iconic colour - Chuck Berry, EC, Marty McFly....

Some colours suits certain guitars. Red suits a 335 or varient so well. It's like sunburst les Paul's and white Tele's.

It's the same reason you don't get Cherry Sunburst J45s

Cherry wasn't introduced until later 1960.  The shipping figures below for 335's only (courtesy of http://www.vintageguitarandbass.com) show there were more cherries than sunburst in the early 60's then about half and half from the mid 60's until walnut came in in 1970.

If I was buying a 335 it would HAVE to be in Cherry.  It's like a Ferrari - it just looks wrong in any other colour - I mean, have you ever seen a sunburst Ferrari?  nopethumbsdownnonono
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

Gentlemen prefer Blondes so they say. I'm no gent but a blonde 335 is a thing of beauty. The most beautiful 335 I ever saw was an impossibly rare early 60's blond 335. They weren't offered in anything other than Cherry or Sunburst at the time but at least 2 or 3 exist as special orders. Drop dead gorgeous |

I prefer Ebony myself, but out of the two choices I like Sunburst with a T.O.M but you can't beat a Cherry 335 sporting a Bigsby!
