Gretsch Jack Issues.

I need to open this up to make the jack end secure - keeps falling out.

Anyone know how to do it?

    I don't think it opens, I think it's literally just slotted in. I saw a jack like that on this cheap LP that my friend bought. His was glued in, but it wasn't necessary.

    Years ago I attempted to dismantle one of those to do the same thing, I soon discovered that fitting a replacement is the answer.

    Those barrel jacks are shit and will always fail eventually.

    Although I agree with @ICBM I'm not entirely convinced a bit and brace is the best tool for the job.

    It's actually a very good one because it's so controllable - but you will need to glue a 1/2" dowel into the hole first, and drill a small pilot hole in that to provide the centre screw with something to thread into. You'll also need to clamp the guitar to the bench, of course.

    I've also done it successfully with a large-diameter hand countersink tool, but it's hard work.
