Yeah, this. Great pedal.

JHS Angry Charlie or Andy Timmons? That will do most Marshall stuff and sounds like a better quality version of my Marshall Guvnor.
Then Tubescreamer Mini in front of it
Done!
Another idea - Lovepedal Kalamazoo, might be cheap used - I've quite liked the ones I've tried
I agree about buying here and taking it with you though. Internet shopping has taken all the mystique about going to foreign guitar shops and the OP would be stuck with using whatever he could find in the first town he arrives in for the rest of the tour.
Something Boss, they are very reliable and if it does break you can replace it at the local music emporium without fuss.

This is true.
If you get something else it's a good idea to have a boss backup for anything especially important.
The v2 onwards visual sound pedals are generally very well regarded for reliability, with soft switches and a rugged case but I don't know how easy they are to find. I'd imagine they're pretty common in the states, but boss are easily the most common pedal you'll find. Can't go wrong with a humble sd-1 for boost and maybe a ds1x or da2 for heavier distortion.
