to use with my single coil guitars....sold my CS-2 months ago, so wouldn't mind a cheap option to having an bit of squish to add to my board for those stratty moments......

If you like the Dyna Comp style,  a Biyang Baby Boom Compress X should be on your list. Cheap as chips and quieter than its inspiration.

I don't know if they make one but the Behringer pedals spring to mind when someone mentions "not so expensive"

Wampler EGO or if you can wield a soldering iron, the BYOC 5 knob is pretty much the same thing.

Noisy as anything at higher settings. There are modifications, but great googly moogly does that thing hiss.

That's where I'd spend my pocket money.

I've got the BYOC. Can go super subtle with the blend control, but will go full squish if that's your thing.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

Mooer Yellow is super-quiet and has a fair bit of squish available for an optical comp.

The Milkbox is very good if you can find one. It gives you lots of control over the compression and attack.

I pull mine out every couple of years just to remind myself how good it is and how sodding noisy it is too.

EQD Warden can occasionally be had second hand for £80ish.  It's fairly subtle sounding, but can be dialled in for some heavy squish if that's what you want.

I find it only gets noisy when you turn the compress knob past about 1 O'clock by which time it's squashing far more than I could ever use.
