I own a Carr Rambler, and this would be my recommendation with a good Marshall pedal. Ive owned the glorious Slant, and the drive channel is a bit 'meh' imho.
There is a reason why we often buy more than one amp !!!
I also own a Redplate RP50R which is majestic. My best option would be a Redplate CDS2 - one of the smaller combos - and you could well get one close to your £1000 budget.
Actually, Ill revise that.... buy this Carr Mercury. This amp is so good that Steve Carr himself used to gig one (and might still do) and was his no.1 choice out of all his amps. Good marshall/BF blended together tones - at a bloody giveaway price...

The clean channel is 'very' Blackface Fender.
Honest.
I wonder if @ennspek is on the right path suggesting something digital.

In my opinion… if that's close enough for you then you're a Fender player and not a Marshall player .
Yes, you can get closer to a Marshall with a Fender and a pedal than the other way round, but still not like a good Marshall. The difference in the power section, speakers and cabinet is important.
It's a bit like saying you can get the sound of a Les Paul by putting a humbucker in a Strat - superficially you can, but if you're a true Gibson player it will never be close enough, any more than coil-splitting a Les Paul sounds like a Fender.
