I sometimes log on to the World Guitars website to leer at the gear. But over the past couple of days the content doesn't load and I get a pop up saying
'AdGuard has detected an attempt by this website to use your browser as a crypto-currency miner. It can create significant CPU load. Press "Cancel" to prevent it.'
So I press cancel, the I get the message
www.worldguitars.co.uk says:
'We are collecting all the information about the websites engaged in hidden crypto-mining. Press "OK" to send an automatic report about this website.'
at which point I press cancel instead of 'OK' because I don't know if it helps or harms World Guitars, which I don't want to do. I don't know what to make of this. I know that the company is held in high regard by people here who's opinion I hold in high regard & that's good enough for me. Possible explanations I though of was that someone may have hacked their site in some way or there's a problem on my system. But then again, this is the only website where I get the message & it happens consistently. If there is anyone here who has direct access to the people at the company, could you alert them to this because if there's a problem at their end it would be nice if they knew about it.
Besides; I want to leer at the gear, surf with the Suhrs, luxuriate in the Luxxtones, go on a bender over a Fender, lose my jelly over a tele, sell my best hat to buy a strat, retch over a Gretsch. And so on, apart from the retching bit - I was running out of rhymes.

Looks like one of these bitcoin mining things.
I'd stay off their site until they get it sorted. (I doubt they are doing this deliberately, but who knows what their service provider is up to. Or of course it could have been hacked as you say.)
+wis. Yes it looked like some sort of script. "JS/miner". I gather these things are all the range these days...
