I remember buying the cheapest Korg synth, the Micro Preset, in 1980 cost me a month's wages.

Football is rubbish.
And to all in the thread - a basic explanation of the differences or what your synth does (for us newbies !)
My analogue synthesizer programming technique could be neatly summarised by two lines from The Hitch-Hikers' Guide To The Galaxy radio series.
ARTHUR DENT: Have you managed to make sense of the controls?
FORD PREFECT: No. I just stopped fiddling with them.
Once I discovered VSTIs - the world really opened up. Right now, I'm about to buy the Korg iM1 to run on my iPad. What a synth... I thought the DX7 was king until I discovered the M1.
Offset "(Emp) - a little heavy on the hyperbole."
Im now at the stage where I want to add some weird sounds to my creatvie writing. And, importantly, I seem too work better with physical knobs rather than menus.
I waver between something like a Elektron Octatrack (tried it, just returning it, way too complex and unituitive for me), the MPC Live (really like this) to a Prophet 6 - which sounds amazing.
Daft question - can the Prophets record and loop ?
Any thoughts and recommendations for the OP and I ?
