I like my telecaster but i really struggle to play it.
i mainly play gibson scale. i put 9's on it to see if would make a difference but not really.

could a set up be in order? I can't see why it would be such a struggle. if anything my previous telecaster was easier to play and have no issues with strats.

Strats, they sound amazing when someone else plays them, stick the same guitar in my hands and I can't even sound as half as competent as I do on a Les Paul, Tele, SG etc so it's not even a scale length thing.

Have you considered the Fender Jim Adkins JA90 Telecaster? Sounds like it ticks boxes for you; Tele, Gibbo scale, set neck, bridge and tailpiece.

Electrics. Used to play electrics all the time usually at home sometimes in a band situation. Always play acoustic now, still got the electrics but don't really enjoy playing them.

Without knowing the precise model that you own, neither can I.

It is possible that a steep, vintage-style, fingerboard radius is making life harder than the flatter Gibson with which you are familiar.

It is possible that the pickups and electronics on your mystery T type guitar are not giving back much of what you put in.

I'm struggling with my new lp after years of prs... it just feels clunky and agricultural. I've set it up like the rest of.my guitars but it just doesn't feel slinky at all.

its just a mim tele from 2000ish beat to hell

it sounds good I bought it on holiday, I looked inside and it has mojotone pots and a  emerson harness. no idea what the pickups are

but i struggle on the neck. chords is fine but any sort of solo goes wrong.
for example if am learning something new i struggle then pick up my les paul and i am instantly better. i've tried to adjust it but i've have a good track record of making things worse.

I have no idea of your level of ability or experience, but if there's always something getting in the way have you considered a couple of lessons with a teacher to look at your technique? Small changes to things like thumb position, tension reduction etc can make a big difference.

I’ve always struggled with Les Pauls but intend to have another go soon (especially after missing out on the lovely R7 in the Classifieds....)

I've just got my first one, just to see what all the fuss is about, and I'm just not feeling the love... all of my prsi fit me like a glove but this just doesn't feel 'right' somehow.

I’m the other way round, Tele’s feel great to me and anything else feels a bit weird.

In what way do you struggle? Anything you can put your finger on? Or something less easy to define?

I had a Pacifica for a while which despite being the same scale length as my Tele was always harder to play. In the end I realised it was the skinny neck that I didn't really get on with but a ten minute strum in the shop wasn't enough to pick that up.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it
