Here's the 4th Bass Riff of the Month (BRotM) Challenge, being run by
@stratman3142 and
@TTony.
The challenge is now open, and remains open for submissions until 11:30pm on 23rd April 2018
BRotM can be interpreted by the entrants, ie as simple or complex as they like, to encourage as many as possible to get involved. It could be anything from a single RAW bass track to a full mix of instruments. However, the focus must be on the bass riff.
The bass riff needs to be created using a real stringed bass instrument, so that would include electric or acoustic bass (fretted or unfretted), Chapman stick, double bass - even cello perhaps
Keep it to a maximum of 50 seconds. This is about riffs, not songs.
Send your entry (as an mp3) to brotm@thefb.co.uk
Include your forum name in the email.
Voting will start soon after the submission deadline of 23rd April 2018, with each voter selecting their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.
First choice gets 5 points - Second choice gets 3 points - Third choice gets 1 point
Voting will end on 11.30pm 30th April 2018
The order and scores of the top three entries will be announced soon after the voting ends. If there are 8 or more entries, then the order and scores of those in the top half will be announced.
No prizes. It's just for fun.
As people submit their entries, I'll post them below to hopefully promote some discussion on approaches used.
It's not a competition.

Your son goes to school with Marcus Miller? Wow!
Unless somebody else on tFB has recently bought one, it is probably safe to remove this instrument from the BRotM list.
Trying to get him to join here and motivate his lazy ass a little!...
I know him as “Marcus 2” apparently there are 3!!!!
There are now two entries in the playlist.
Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!
However, I think posting as we go will hopefully promote more discussion and learning off each other, as I stated in the OP. It appears to work for SotM and I see it's also promoted some discussion about drums for this month's RotM. It also helps me to keep track of the entries and resubmissions. So I'd rather do it that way.
I won't post the Composition Challenge entries until after the deadline, in keeping with the way Antique_Guitars did things, as that's a longer term substantial creative thing.
I'll do it this way unless enough people don't like it, or if @TTony says otherwise. I'm just the monkey, not the organ grinder
Except that I'd agree that whichever way stratman3142 wants to do it, is the best way to do it
in other news, after a daring ninja style raid where poojnr emailed his music teacher and got him to go to the school, I am now in the possession of what can only be described as a “fooked five string bass”... will try to get something over after I’ve sorted the mess!!!!!!
Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!
You can choose not to listen Anyway you've got nothing to worry about.
Although the first one happens to be extremely good, but it still didn't put me off (I'm too old to care).
sent one in tho’
Added to playlist. That's 3 so far.
Now updated with version 2.
Used my Classic Vibe 60’s P Bass and as I’ve been on a Britpop kick I did something a little bit “Alex James” inspired.
I'm surprised you found the time, although it's good to start a marriage as you plan to continue
Added to playlist. That makes 4 entries.
