I have some of this left from an experiment last year but I don't really like it. Turns everything yellow and very fucking dusty when you sand.

filler just highlights the tang wounds from pulling the frets. Although they should not happen on an old fender if the frets are pushed out.

i have done a few now, the sideways frets do leave really clean slots when removing properly

Funny thing is, with flat wounds on I get pretty much no fret wear at all. The stock frets on a pre-CBS precision are teeny tiny and might as well be tippex, but there's so little wear that I doubt they will need replacing whilst I have it.
i filled it with fretwire rather than grain filler
