I still haven't found anyone I enjoy listening to more than Stevie, to be honest, but I'm forever grateful to him for his music and for it guiding me to all the blues greats past and present.
Now: Alan Sparhawk
I did! The WASP songs were a nostalgia trip. His original influence was obviously Iommi, as things went serious when he covered 'War Pigs' at the end there. He stayed behind with his wife until all the fans had gone home too, so I got him to sign a couple of pickguards for me (so much for 'Mean Man', but it may have been so back in the 80s)

Great to see Bill Nelson come up in the thread!
Now one of: Knopfler, Keith Richards, John Mayer, Derek Trucks, Hendrix.
Now:
Bryce and Aaron Dessnor, Brad Barr, Nels Cline and Richard Thompson. I guess I got a bit more eclectic and went a bit further down the hole Jonny Greenwood started me on!
Now- Robin Guthrie.
I said maybe.....
Then: James Hetfield of Metallica, and a little later Ty Tabor of King’s X. I was very much a rhythm player early on, it took me a while to start playing any lead, and even now I’m still happiest doing rhythm and melody.
Now: Difficult to choose one … maybe Piotr Grudziński of Riverside? Piotr wasn’t a flashy player, but there’s some great stuff in their music. He died a couple of years ago, and while the new Riverside material still sounds good it won’t be the same without Piotr … oh, and I still love Ty Tabor
So, not a huge journey for me - still love my metal
